You've probably seen that the UK government recently announced changes to the rules on digital right to work checks. From 1 October, any digital RTW check for a UK citizen has to run through a provider registered on the Digital Verification Services (DVS) Trust Framework.

We're happy to share that RTW checks through Zinc have now been updated to meet this new requirement. As of today, this is live for all your right to work checks, so there's nothing you need to do ahead of the deadline.

What's changing in the journey

The practical changes only apply when a candidate's using their passport to prove their right to work, and they're pretty simple:

• A live motion capture video now replaces the static selfie we used to capture. It gives a more confident facial similarity match, cuts the risk of fraud, and it's a smoother experience for candidates too.
• Identity fraud checks now run automatically in the background, to check a candidate hasn't recently been the victim of fraud and isn't likely to become one. This happens without any input from you or the candidate, it's just another layer of protection.

What you need to do

There is no action you need to take, all your candidates will be directed through the new right to work flow from this point onwards.

As mentioned above, while the journey sits inside the Zinc platform, it's currently provided by Entrust, who are a certified DVS provider.
